Women at the Bar Sub-Committee (South Australian Bar Association)
The Women at the Bar sub-committee of the South Australian Bar Association was established in 2014 to encourage women to join the Bar, support their retention, and optimise their career progression opportunities. It introduced an Unconscious Bias CPD programme in September 2014 and runs the "Silks' Commitment," a voluntary pledge under which senior barristers (Silks) commit to equality and diversity measures, including recommending at least one woman annually for research tasks or junior briefs; 20 practising Silks are listed as signatories, including William Boucaut KC, Maurine Pyke KC and Gillian Walker SC.
