AIFS contributes to new suite of child support scheme research

We're pleased to see the publication of a suite of research commissioned by the Department of Social Services (DSS) to support the review of Australia's child support scheme... We're proud to have contributed to the Child Support Expert Panel and to strengthening the evidence base that informs child support policy in Australia.

The Australian Institute of Family Studies has welcomed the publication of a suite of research commissioned by the Department of Social Services to support the ongoing review of Australia's child support scheme, responding to the 2019 Joint Select Committee inquiry into Australia's Family Law System. Among the released reports, an AIFS paper draws together contemporary evidence on the costs of raising children, including estimation methodologies and what current research shows about shared care, housing and child care arrangements. AIFS says it contributed to the Child Support Expert Panel supporting the review.
