Victoria's new work-from-home legislation, enshrining a legal right to work from home in the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, comes into force on 1 September 2026. Eligible employees will have the right to work from home two days a week, with the law applying regardless of employer size. Employees must submit a written request specifying days and times; employers have 21 days to respond and must state whether refusal is reasonable. Disputes go to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission for conciliation, and to VCAT if that fails.
