State Solicitor's Office (Western Australia)
The State Solicitor's Office provides legal services to the Western Australian Government. Its practice areas are advice, policy and public law, litigation, native title and state lands, commercial, and counsel. SSO runs paid two-week vacation clerkships for law students in spring and summer. Clerks are selected on academic results and interest in government law, without interviews. Its law graduate program is a 12-month rotational program supervised by senior lawyers. For 2027, graduates receive a two-year fixed-term contract. SSO pays for practical legal training for graduates who have not completed it. Graduate applications open in April and close in May each year. SSO also runs a Professional Assistant Program for final-year law students.
