AED Legal Centre

AED Legal Centre is a Victorian registered charity giving free legal advice, advocacy and support to people with disability. Its work covers discrimination at work, such as dismissal, missing adjustments or underpayment. It also covers discrimination at school or university, including exclusion, bullying and a lack of learning support. A third program helps people understand and appeal NDIS decisions on funding or plan changes. The centre also sells disability awareness training to organisations. AED takes law students on placement in its National Disability Advocacy Program and its NDIS Appeals program. Placement students do legal research, help with client interviews and consider ethical issues in practice. Several universities run placement programs with AED directly. Students from other institutions can ask about an independent placement through its contact page.
