Monash Law Clinics
Monash Law Clinics is a free legal service and teaching clinic run by Monash University's Faculty of Law. It has offices at Clayton and in the Melbourne CBD. It advises and assists eligible Victorians with general matters such as Magistrates' Court criminal and traffic charges, Centrelink, infringements, intervention orders, debts and divorce. Its family law practice covers parenting, property, maintenance and family violence matters. The Monash Tax Clinic helps with tax debts, ATO disputes and Director Penalty Notices. Monash law students work in the clinics through 12-credit-point Professional Practice units, LAW4328 for LLB students and LAW5050 for JD students. Students advise clients, run casework and brief counsel under supervision over a 16-week clinical period. Applicants need at least 72 credit points of law study and a Working With Children Check. Applications open in three rounds each year.
